Sue Elma Turner's Obituary
TURNER, SUE PHILLIPS left this world on October 25th after a 9 month illness. She was born Sue Elma Garvin in Whitesboro, Texas, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Garvin and Rosetta Webb Garvin. She moved to Dallas in 1943 where she worked in retail and as a clothing model at the Dallas Merchandise Mart. She later became involved in the hotel industry and was on the development team of several of Dallas’ landmark hotels that were opened in the 60s and 70s. She was a 40 year member of East Dallas Christian Church where she was active in her Sunday School class and in CWF. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Turner. She is survived by her sons, Bill R.Phillips and his wife, Candy of Nashville, Tennessee and Bob Phillips and his wife, Kelli of Dallas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Anica Roy of Rowlett; her brother, Billy Bob Garvin of Whitesboro, lots of nieces and nephews and too many friends to count. A memorial service will be held in Wildwood Chapel at Restland on Saturday, November 3rd at 3PM with interment in the Restland Mausoleum immediately after. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Juliette Fowler Home of Dallas or Faith Hospice of Farmers Branch.
