Sulin Marshall Nelson's Obituary
Sulin Marshall Nelson, born on February 7th, 1931, in the borough of Chaguanas, Trinidad, embarked on a life journey that touched the hearts of many. She peacefully departed on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, almost one week after celebrating her 93rd birthday.
Sulin was born to Marshall Ho Tam Qui and Dhan Matih Isabella Boodram, and her early years in a modest neighborhood in Trinidad shaped the resilient spirit that defined her character. In her teens, her sister Rosalind (Baby) Fang's support paved the way for Sulin's education, guiding her through secretary school.
In 1965, amidst the tropical beauty of Aruba, Sulin married Blaine L. Nelson, creating a partnership that spanned several continents. Her time in Aruba, working as a secretary for Esso Oil, was marked by tennis matches, vibrant parties, and the joys of global exploration. The couple later moved to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, enriching their lives with experiences in the Middle East and the Far East.
Sulin's strength of will and love for her son, Gary, led to a move to Bullard, Texas, in 1984. Settling near Lake Palestine, she embraced a community of friends, hosting gatherings that echoed the warmth of her Aruban days. A golf course view from their home became a backdrop to cherished moments shared with visitors from across the globe.
Her bridge skills flourished, and friendships deepened as the years passed. In 2018, she embarked on a new chapter in Frisco, Texas, and in 2019, she gracefully navigated life at Oxford Grand, McKinney, Texas, after the passing of her beloved husband, Blaine L. Nelson.
Sulin's kindness and affable nature endeared her to all, creating lasting bonds with friends and staff alike. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
