Summerfield Daniel Edwards Jr's Obituary
Summerfield D. “Dan” Edwards, Jr., 68, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2021, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Dan was born in Terrell, Texas on April 25,1953, son of the late Summerfield Daniel Edwards, Sr. and Hallie Ann Fox Edwards. He is survived by the mother of his children, Lynda Edwards, his daughters, Christina Edwards Vaughn and Amanda Edwards of Dallas; son, Austen Edwards and daughter-in-law Emily Sanderson Edwards of Bonham, and granddaughter Hailey Anne Vaughn. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Elaine Edwards and Emily Anne Edwards of Richardson, Texas.
Dan graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas in 1971. He then attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where he graduated in 1975, with a BA degree in Political Science, Psychology and History. He graduated with a JD from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San
Antonio, Texas in 1978, and returned to Dallas, Texas where he began a successful 43 year private law practice specializing in Family Law, Wills and Trusts, and Probate. He was a member of numerous organizations and associations and received the Martindale-Hubbell rating of “Distinguished” meaning he was widely respected by his peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards. Dan loved traveling the world and was an avid sports fan. He loved all Dallas teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas. The Funeral Service will be held immediately thereafter at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest on Friday at Oakland Cemetery in Terrell, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of S. Dan Edwards, Jr. to the American Cancer Society.
