Susan Kay Adair's Obituary
Susan Kay Adair (née McCreery), 81, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on
December 1, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White hospital of Plano, TX, after having
valiantly fought a brief battle with congestive heart failure. Susan’s strong held
belief in God instilled a strength in knowing that her passing should not be one of
mourning, rather a celebration of the life she led and the resting place that she
now has with God. Her wish was to be cremated and her ashes buried with her
grandson, Caleb, in Van Buren, AR.
Susan was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert B. McCreery and Margaret
Elaine McCreery on July 16, 1941. She graduated from Xenia High School (Xenia,
OH) in 1959 and went on to attend Ohio Northern University as a pre-med
student, eventually majoring in Business. On September 7, 1963, Susan married
her high school sweetheart, Richard T. Adair, Jr at the Christ Episcopal Church in
Xenia, OH. Susan went on to establish her first business venture in 1983 with Adair
Interiors in Austin, TX. There, she coupled her keen sense of business with an
undying creativity to successfully work in both residential and hospitality interior
design. In 2011, Susan and Richard founded Adair’s Interiors (formally Adair’s
Fine Floors, Etc) in Dallas, TX. Together, they provided flooring and remodeling
services to the Dallas metroplex until they retired in 2021. During this time, Susan
was the recipient of several awards from Shaw Industries as part of their Vision
Designer Awards.
Susan was a member of the Dallas Women’s BNI group, as well a number of
different bible study groups and a member of the Lakepoint Church in
Rockwall, TX.
Susan is preceded in death by her sister, Jill McCreery Dunlap, and her brother
