Susan Tristan's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sara Susan Tristan, a beloved member of our community, who left us on December 5th, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family, at age 71. Susan, as she was known by friends and family, was a pillar of strength and faith, known for her unwavering dedication to her church and her compassionate spirit.
Born on February 24th, 1953, to Robert Bell and Helen Bell (Rives), in Cleburne, Texas, Susan grew up with a strong sense of community and service. From an early age Susan’s accomplishments were apparent, during high school she made All-State band playing the Clarinet, a prestigious ensemble that brings together the top high school musicians from across the state. She graduated in 1971 from Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas before going on to graduate from Texas Tech University with her bachelor's degree in accounting. After graduation, she took and passed her exam for certification as a CPA in Texas. Susan then went on to pursue a career with Sun Oil Company (Sunoco), where she worked until she had her daughter Rachel. Throughout her career, Susan was known for her meticulous attention to detail, strong ethical standards, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Beyond her professional achievements, in 1981, she met the love of her life Salomon Tristan, together they built a beautiful life filled with love, support, and laughter.
A member since 1981, Susan devoted countless hours to her church, First Baptist Church of Garland, where she served in various capacities, including volunteering, starting her own community bible study, attending services, and serving her church community. Her commitment to her faith and her church family was evident in everything she did. Susan was not only a devoted church member but also a loving wife, mother, and friend.
She is survived by her husband Salomon Tristan, her daughter Rachel Tristan; her step-daughter Jennifer Tristan and her children Christiane Tristan-Turner and Ella Zapata; her step-son Salomon David Tristan Jr, and his children, Cameron Savage, Laci Tristan, and Shyla Tristan; her brother Robert Bell and his wife Cheryl, and countless friends from her community.
Susan’s legacy of love, faith and service will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten
Open visitation for Susan will be at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m.
A memorial service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Garland, located at 801 W Avenue Drive Garland TX 75040
