Suzanne Buford Rieker Harvey's Obituary
Suzanne Buford Rieker Harvey, 93, raised in Fort Worth and a longtime resident of Dallas, died peacefully on July 21, 2016. Her husband of 53 years, Robert Swanson Harvey, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Dallas. Services will be private. Suzanne was born to Elizabeth Williams Rieker and William James Rieker on Aug. 31, 1922 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth and attended National Park Seminary for young women. She then attended the University of Texas in Austin, as a voice major, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She lived in Dallas for more than 50 years, where she was a active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, the Dallas Woman’s Club, the Junior League of Dallas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, and a talented watercolor artist; her friends and family still enjoy her artwork in their homes. Her family would like to thank the loving and caring professionals at Stonegate Nursing Center and are very appreciative of their service to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers William James III and John Lewis Rieker. She is survived by her three children, Ann Elizabeth Harvey, Katherine Campbell Carsey and Robert Buchanan Harvey; by four grandchildren, Brett Carsey, Will Carsey, Rieker Carsey and Robin Harvey; and by four great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
