Sydney Vander Galien's Obituary
Sydney Vander Galien was born on May 11, 1926 in Randolph, Wisconsin and went to the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2018. He was the oldest child of Michael and Nellie Vander Galien. Sid enlisted in the U.S. army on December 7, 1945 and served as a military policeman in Japan following their surrender. After his military service, he attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he met Louise. They married on July 30, 1948. He held many positions in banking, public office and real estate sales, and acquisitions during his working years. He and Louise retired in 1988 to pursue their passion of traveling the United States in their motorhome. They were “snowbirds” spending time in Michigan and Florida. They moved to Dallas in September 2007. Sid is survived by his wife of 69 years, Louise, and sons Jeff (Mary) from Littleton, Co and Chris (Marge) from Dallas. They have five granddaughters, Melissa Lawrence (Robert) from Seattle, Washington, Beth Zoller (Matt) from Littleton, Colorado, Jill Prengler (Adam) from Richardson, Texas, Renee Dixon (Brent) from Durango, Colorado, and Rachel Breshears (Brandon) from Carrollton, Texas.Sydney has eight precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Henrietta (Bill) Willemstyn and Gloria Rodenhouse, sister-in-law Sally Vander Galien, and brothers Henry and Jim Vander Galien. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill.
