Sydney Chandler Reagan II's Obituary
Sydney Chandler Reagan, II, died peacefully on November 10, 2010 surrounded by women who loved him. He was born January 7, 1916 is Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1940, he married the love of his life, Barbara Benton. Syd earned his B.A. in 1937 and J.D. in 1941 from the University of Texas. He served as president of the student body 1940-1941. In 1954, he received his PhD from Harvard in economics. After a distinguished career at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, he joined the SMU faculty in 1955. He served as Professor in the Department of Economics and later as Department Chair in Real Estate at the Business School. After retiring in 1981, he continued to work as a consultant. Syd loved travel, fishing, social justice, and Democratic party politics. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2002. Syd is survived by his daughter, Patricia of Columbus, OH, son, Chad of Boston, MA, and five grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 Saturday, November 13 at Northhaven United Methodist Church 11211 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75230-3457. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Norhhaven Church or the charity of your choice.
