T.H. Avery III's Obituary
T.H. Avery, III, age 82, passed away June 29, 2024, in Granbury, Texas. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Dallas and attended Baylor University. Mr. Avery was born on December 17, 1941, to T.H. Avery, Jr. and Alma Leola Thomas Avery in Alamo, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army, had a successful career with Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, was a private pilot, ordained chaplain, and all-around cowboy. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Janis Kay Lard Avery; son, Troy Howard Avery and his wife, Monica Avery; daughter Laura Kay Avery and her husband, John-Eric Gundersen; granddaughters, Jessica and Lila Gundersen; sister, Eleanor Carol Avery Hagler; brother, Robert Lee Avery and his wife, Judy Willett Avery; nieces, Lisa Hagler Shinkins and her family Kieran, Killian and Kevin; Julie Hagler Reger and her daughter, Avery; Angela Avery Davis and her family Blake, Layla, Brooks, and Teel; and Jessica Avery Brown and her family Josh, Alexia and Gideon; cousins, Mary Raines Mueller, Thomas Raines, Ann Shivers Christopher and Saundra Avery Johnson; and very good friend of 50 years, Richard Brock. Visitation will be at 9:00a.m. with funeral service to follow at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 9 at Restland Funeral Home’s Wildwood Chapel in Dallas. The family would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care and assistance given by the Memory Care Unit at The Courtyards at Lake Granbury and Beyond Faith Hospice in Weatherford.
