Ted Clark Munnell's Obituary
MUNNELL, TED CLARK passed away on April 29, 2011, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Martin Munnell; son Douglas Martin Munnell and his wife, Patricia; daughter Melanie Lynn Munnell; and grandchildren Cassandra Ruth Munnell and Timothy Clark Munnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ruth Munnell, and his brother Hugh Munnell. Ted was born in Dallas on October 28, 1924. He attended Highland Park High School, where he was co-captain of the football team. Throughout his life, he continued to support his alma mater and served on the HPHS Alumni Association Executive Board in 1994-1995. After graduating high school in 1943, Ted enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was a pilot in World War II, and his service included flying “the hump”-the route over the Himalayan Mountains into China. He attended SMU and Oklahoma City University and then reenlisted to serve as an Air Force pilot in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Ted’s career was in the lumber business. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was a charter member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Park Cities Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
