He is survived by his companion, Tassie Schiffhouer and her children, and grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Horton Elam; sister, Jewell Elam Flaherty; brothers, Jack, Wayne, Doyle, Aubrey (Shine) Elam.
