Tex William Ellis Sr.August 31, 1947-December 09, 2019Tex William Ellis Sr. was promoted to Glory on Monday, December 9, 2019 while at home. He was preceded in death by his parents Tony Ellis Jr, Neta Pearl Ellis and Mother-in-law Helen Edwards.He was a proud Vietnam veteran of the United States Army as well as the North Carolina National Guard.Tex was a graduate of the class of 1966 Goldsboro High School. He also held an Associate Degree in Biblical Education from the William Howard Cater Seminary in Goldsboro, N.C as well as an Associates, BA, MA and doctorate degree in Theology from the Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia. He graduated with Honors in both Seminaries.Tex was an employee of the Goldsboro General Electric Company prior to his entering into fulltime ministry as the Assoc. Pastor of the aaR Freights Pentecostal Free Will Bapt. Church, serving with Pastors Ron and Sue Williams. He also served later as Associate Pastor with Ron and Sue atthe “New Life Christian Center”of Goldsboro. Tex then became Pastor and Founder of “The Word Church Inc” of Goldsboro prior to entering The Salvation Army School for Officers Training in Atlanta, Ga. In 1985 as a Minister and Officer in The Salvation Army until his retirement in 2013. He was listed in the “Marquis Who’s Who” among American business men. Tex was an avid supporter for the state of Israel.His joy in life consisted of loving and caring for his beautiful wife Mona Lisa of 51 years plus his 4 wonderful sons, Tex Ellis Jr, Toney Ellis, Travis Ellis and Terry Ellis, as well as his beautiful Grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Taylor Addison and Trenton Ellis of whom all reside in Texas.He is survived by his wife Mona Ellis, Sons: Major Tex Ellis Jr and wife Andrea, Toney Ellis, Travis Ellis and wife Christy. Terry Ellis. Two Sisters:Judy McSwan and husband Howard McSwain of Gaffney, S.C.,Toni Ann Gardner and husband James Gardner of Goldsboro, N.C. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Three Aunts, Nell Holt of Colorado Springs, Co, Della Ellis and Dorothy Ellis, both of Goldsboro, NC.Memorials may be sent to your local Salvation Army Office.Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Restland Wildwood Chapel, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
