Texas Annagene Temple's Obituary
Texas Annagene Smith Temple beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt was born on April 20, 1932, in Royse City, Texas. She attended Royse City High School and graduated in 1949. She attended the Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas graduating in 1952. While her given name was indeed Texas, she never used it in early life, explaining she did not want to be called Tex. Her friends and family all knew her as Annagene. Later in life she proudly embraced it wearing a pin spelling out Texas whenever she dressed up.
Annagene married Bobby L Temple, in 1953. While her husband finished medical school in Galveston Tx, she worked at John Sealy Hospital. They both worked at Philadelphia General Hospital while he served his residency.
Their first child David was born in Philadelphia. Her husband then served two years in the Army at Fort Knox, Ky where their second child Linda was born.
They then moved to Dallas where they would stay. Their third child Robert was born in Dallas. After moving multiple times in the 1960's they bought a house in 1969 in north Dallas where they stayed for over 50 years.
The family attended Park Cities Baptist Church.
She enjoyed bluebonnets, sewing, reading westerns and mysteries and liked to watch old tv westerns like Gunsmoke and Wagon Train. Westerns were also her favorite movie genre particularly the movies of John Wayne and Randolph Scott. She and her husband liked to travel, especially visiting New Orleans many times, starting with their honeymoon in 1953. The family enjoyed camping vacations at National Parks around the country
Annagene died on September 18, 2025, at age 93. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr Bobby Temple, her parents Roy and Alyne Smith and her younger sister Myra King. She is survived by her son David Temple and his wife Nancy, grandchildren Bradley Temple (wife Ashley), Allison Temple and Kelsey Temple; daughter Linda Hansen and her husband Hal, grandchild Laura Hansen (husband R J) and son Robert Temple.
