Theresa Allyson Madden's Obituary
Theresa Allyson Madden was born August 23, 1960 in Rantoul, IL to Edward P. Madden Jr. and Shelby Johnson Madden. Theresa passed away September 1, 2020 in Fort Worth, TX surrounded by her loving family.
Her father, Edward, precedes Theresa in death. She is survived by her mother, Shelby; sons, Jarred Seaver and wife Amanda, Austin Grant and wife Brooke; brothers, Phillip Madden and wife Tracy, Chris Madden and wife Angie; sister, Catherine Janda and husband Maurice; special cousin, Roxane West and husband Quint; grandchildren Colton Seaver, Jadeyn Seaver, Jax Seaver, and Cheyenne Grant; nieces, Maegan Madden, Holly Madden, Shelby Janda, and Ashlee Janda; nephews, Nico Madden and Reese Janda; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Theresa spent her early years in Macon, GA and moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1974 where she would go on to graduate from Spackenkill High School in 1978 and attended Duchess Community College. Her childhood vacations were spent with cousins in Louisiana. As a teenager, Theresa enjoyed all things disco, roller-skating, and dancing. She was an avid collector of vinyl records all catalogued in the neatest penmanship you could find. After high school, she briefly worked for IBM where she met her future husband. Theresa then held careers at Ulster Savings Bank and Tiger Roller Rink and Fitness Center in Kingston, NY. She ultimately found her professional expertise as a structural steel estimator, which she excelled at for the rest of her professional years.
Theresa married in September of 1982, and welcomed her son Jarred in 1985. Jarred quickly became the center of her universe. Theresa and Jarred moved to Texas in 1992, where she would remain until her death. In 1995, Theresa welcomed son Austin and just like that, she found that the size of the center of her universe had doubled. As a single mom, Theresa worked tirelessly to provide for her boys and make sure that they did not miss an opportunity to get to the magical world of Disney in Florida. She loved Disney so much, that she made sure to have the boys’ cousins tag-along when they could. Theresa taught the boys to have fun, the importance of family, and how to be a survivor. She raised them into men that began their own families and brought her the grandchildren that she adored with all of her heart. She loved nothing more than spending time with Jarred, Austin, and their families.
Theresa’s biggest champion was her mother, Shelby. No matter the situation, Theresa and Shelby took care of each other. They always had each other’s back and spent numerous hours on the road together visiting relatives. Shelby brought Theresa into this world and never strayed from her side. Theresa’s family will deeply miss her generous heart, giant smile, and infectious laugh.
Theresa’s love of children and generous heart led her to volunteer service with the Lake Worth Youth Association where she mentored many youth as the Commissioner of the youth basketball program. As a result, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Lake Worth Youth Association, PO Box 136093, Fort Worth, TX 76136-0093.
