Thomas Latta Fiedler's Obituary
FIEDLER, THOMAS LATTA of Richardson died at his home on June 19,2012. Tom was born on September 20, 1925, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Charleroi High School and attended Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Kalmia. Following his service, he graduated from Kent State University in 1949 and earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Southern Methodist University in 1953. He was licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas, the United States District Court, Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Tom served as an Attorney for United States Fidelity and Guaranty in Dallas and was an Assistant District Attorney for the Dallas County District Attorney’s office. He began his private law practice in 1961 in Richardson, Texas. In addition, he served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Richardson. He was a member of The American Bar Association, The American Association of Hospital Attorneys, and The Texas Society of Hospital Attorneys as well as numerous other professional and civic organizations. Mr. Fiedler was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Grace Chester Fiedler, a sister, Mary Jane Edwards, and his beloved Aunt Dee Dee. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Joan Uhlig Fiedler, sons Louis Fiedler of Waco, Kurt Fiedler of Fort Worth, and Russell Irons and daughter-in-law, Tiny, of Keller, daughters Susan Irons Gould and John, of Austin, and Laura Irons Wine and Duncan, of Houston as well as grandchildren Julia Gragert and husband, Damon, Wes Irons, Harrison Gould, Clayton Gould, Ashley Wine, Eric Wine, Bailey Fiedler, Taylor Fiedler, Brianne Fiedler, and Courtney Fiedler, and sister Marilyn Nicholson of Virginia Beach, VA. There will be a private burial on Saturday, June 23, 2012, followed by a memorial service at 1 :00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Road, Richardson, Texas. The family would especially like to thank The VNA Hospice nurses for their compassionate care.
