Thomas Edwin Hoot's Obituary
Thomas Edwin Hoot passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX on June 17, 2015. He was 73. Tom was born on December 6, 1941 in Dallas, TX to Dr. Edwin and Mrs. Lou Hoot. He grew up and attended high school in Dallas, TX and later graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Business Administration and Industrial Management. He married Bettye Brown Hoot in 1969 in Dallas, TX. Bettye and Tom lived over the years in Dallas, Houston and Austin, TX, and had one daughter, Leshia. Tom worked for many years in purchasing and industrial management, first in the oil industry in Houston and later in the electronics industry in Austin and Dallas. He was a member of the A. C. Garrett Masonic Lodge in Dallas, TX. Tom will be remembered for his love of genealogy and family history, interest in computers and electronics, and love for movies new and old. Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Brown Hoot and his parents Dr. Ed and Mrs. Lou Hoot. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Dr. Joe Hoot and Mrs. Margaret Hoot of Canton, TX; sister Kathey Peat of Dallas, TX; daughter Noel Hoot; daughter and son-in-law Leshia and Kevin Crotty of Austin, TX; and one grandson. A memorial service for Mr. Hoot will be held at the Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX on July 1, 2015 at 10:00AM. All are welcome to attend to honor Tom’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Thinkery Museum of Austin, TX to honor Tom’s love of learning and tinkering or the Hope For The Warriors project to honor Tom’s respect of our nation’s armed forces.
