Mr. Thomas L. Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas “Tom” Lynn Johnson, Jr., 60, of Rowlett, TX was born in Lima, OH to Thomas “Tom” Lynn Johnson and Rita Jane (Mustaine) Johnson. He passed away on the 2nd of April, 2023. He married Sandra “Sandy” Lynn (Newbauer) Johnson on the 16th of April, 1988 in Dallas, TX.
Tom is remembered by his dedication to his family and friends, his years of service to American Airlines and his love of model planes, travel, Star Trek, Disney movies, Crown Royal, the beach and most especially Tina Turner and Cher. He also enjoyed supporting both of his son’s competitive cheerleading careers and served as a team rep to his son’s Special Needs cheerleading teams for over a decade.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Tom Johnson, his eldest son, Richard Alan Johnson, his grandparents, his uncles Mike Mustaine and Jim Johnson, his cousins Elliot Mustaine and Cindy Wooton, his brother-in-law David Newbauer, his nephews Lee Newbauer, Jr. and Mason Newbauer and his niece Alexis Newbauer.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy, his sons Thomas “Tommy” Lynn Johnson III (partner: Blake) and Jeffrey Austin Johnson, his mother, Rita, his sister, Kathy (partner: Michelle), his brother, Jeff, his niece Kristin (fiancé: James), his nephew Justin (wife: Kayti, children: Juliet and Lorelai), his grand puppies Sarge and Bomber, his sister-in-law Cathy Leslie (husband: Lynn), brother-in-law Lee (wife: Joann), sister-in-law Marie Newbauer, and brother-in-law Doug (long-time girlfriend: Dana) as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his lifelong friend and caretaker, Jeff Schultz, best friend of 31 years, Pam Whinnery and his honorary daughter Emma (husband: Scott, children: McKinley and Millie).
