Thomas Joseph Lymenstull's Obituary
Thomas Joseph Lymenstull, 90, of Dallas, passed away on March 5, 2019.Tom was born October 24, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Albert J. and Eleanor (Heuer) Lymenstull. He was a 1946 Quincy High School graduate and later graduated from Quincy College in 1950. He married Wanda Gastineau January 3, 1959.After graduating from college, Tom joined the US Navy and proudly served during the Korean War. After serving for 5 years, Tom joined Texas Instruments and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas in 1959. After leaving Texas Instruments, he was co-founder of Optic Electronic Corporation, which was heavily involved with defense contracts for the U.S. Department of Defense. They were acquired by Scientific Holdings PLC of Great Britain in 1977 and were later sold to Varo Corp located in Garland, Texas. Tom retired from Varo in 1994. A long time member of Central Lutheran Church, his passions were his Labradors, outdoors activities including yard work, golfing, hunting, watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and Texas Aggies. During retirement Tom was an avid golfer and member of the North Texas Senior Golf Association winning the NTSGA Championship in 2000. He served in various board roles over the years, serving as Assistant Tournament Chairman for 10 years. His will to live, sense of humor and “dad” jokes will be missed.Tom is survived be his wife, Wanda Lymenstull of Dallas, TX; daughter, Debbie Brown of Rowlett, TX; son, TJ Lymenstull of Dallas, TX; beloved sons-in-law, Daryl Brown and Ben Egbert; grandson, Joshua Brown; nephews, TJ Lymenstull (Interlochen, MI), Roger Lymenstull (Oswego, IL.), Jeff Gastineau (Cary, IL) and Greg Gastineau (Vail, CO) and niece, Sue Eastman (Union City, CA) and their families.Tom is preceded in death by his parents, brother Allie Lymenstull and sister Mary Homan.The funeral service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to either the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
