Thomas Wimp Lynch's Obituary
Tom was born Thomas Wimp Lynch on March 5, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois, to Brennan and Mildred Lynch. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Monmouth High School. After a year in the U.S. Navy, he attended Monmouth College for one year, then spent 2 years in the U.S. Army during Korean War. He received a B.S. and M.S. (Geology) and J.D. (Law) at the University of Illinois. Tom worked as an oil and gas lawyer in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas until he retired as general counsel of Oryx Energy Company in 1994. His professional Honors included Who’s Who in America, and chairman of the oil, gas and energy section, State Bar of Texas. He also was a current church member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. He married his wife, Betty McDonald on July 30, 1952 at St. Patrick Church in Burlington, Iowa. Survived by wife, Betty Lynch; children, Debbie Scott, Mike Lynch, Maureen Railsback, and Kathy Richardson; son-in-law, Larry Railsback; grandchildren, Erin Denger and husband Cosmo, Jenny Scott, Sara Scott, Emily Mason, and husband Jordan, Adam Railsback, Ashley Apostoli and husband Alessio, Brian Zandi; great- grandchildren, Natalia Denger, Julian Apostoli, and Pierce Mason; sisters, Katie McGinnis and Ann Gillette. Preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Jim Lynch; daughter, Karen Lynch; and grandchildren, Katie Scott,and Michael Scott. Memorial services for Thomas Lynch will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
