Thomas Roy McClain's Obituary
MCCLAIN, THOMAS Our beloved Thomas McClain, was born in Kansas City, KS on April 23, 1938 to the late Reven and Ella-Mae McClain. He was the fourth of six children. Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the African Methodist Episcopal church. He strongly believed in the value of education and shortly after graduating as Salutatorian from Sumner High School he went on to earn a BS in Mathematics from the University of Kansas and later an MBA from Southern Methodist University. Thomas served as a Systems Engineer and Project Management Director at IBM for 35 years and worked briefly for the City of Dallas before going in to semi retirement. After coming out of retirement, he worked in Tarrant Country as an Information Technology Project Manager. Known for his incredible work-ethic and diligence, he received numerous awards and accolades over the course of his career for his outstanding performance and leadership qualities. Thomas was a compassionate and supportive man who loved his family unconditionally. He was kind to everyone he met and always greeted you with his infectious smile. He was a wise man, always capable of giving sound advice and always there to pick you up when you needed it most. On Thursday, September 13, Thomas passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Linda McClain; children Kenneth McClain, Tracy Scott and husband Robert, and Kimberly McClain; grand-children Victoria Scott, Robert Scott II, Grant Scott and Isabella Scott; two brothers Ronald McClain and Charles McClain and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas R. McClain II, one sister Mary McClain, and two brothers Richard McClain and Harry McClain. The memory of his beautiful spirit will continue to live in our hearts for generations to come.
