Thomas Nang Nguyen, MD's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Nang Nguyen, MD, age 87, of Plano, Texas, who passed away on December 8, 2025.
Dr. Thomas N. Nguyen (affectionately known as Dr. Nang) was born on August 7, 1938, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Peter and Mary Nguyen. He completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Saigon and immigrated to the United States in 1975. Dr. Nang dedicated most of his medical career to serving patients in the State of Florida.
Dr. Nang was known for his kindness, humility, and genuine care for others. He will be remembered as a quiet, insightful individual, and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, My-Trang Tran; his son, Frederic Nha Nguyen, MD, and daughter-in-law, Diane Nguyen, MD; his grandchildren, Josephine Nhu Nguyen and Asher Nhat Nguyen; his son, Dominic Ngon Nguyen, MD and wife, Helen Nguyen; his sister, Lien Hoa Ngoc Nguyen, and her husband, Xuan Vu Nguyen; as well as many close friends. Dr. Nang was preceded in death by his father, Peter Thuat Nguyen; his mother, Mary Tri Nguyen; and sisters, Nga and My Nguyen.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home (13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243). The funeral mass will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (600 S. Jupiter Rd., Richardson, TX 75081; 972-231-2951). A memorial service and interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help establish a legacy healthcare scholarship at the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to close family, friends, and caregivers for their support and care during this time.
