Thomas Rollins' Obituary
“To everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born…” Eccl. 3:12 Thomas Rollins was born July 31, 1932 in Pompano Beach, Florida to the late Willie Rollins and Rosanna Brown.“When I was a child, i spake like a child” I Cor: 13:11Thomas received his formal education in the FT. Myers, Florida Independent School System. “When I became a man, I put away childish things” I Cor. 13:11 Thomas enlisted in the United States Army. He spent several tours of duty, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He earned a Distinguished unit citation occupation medal (Japan) and Korean Service Medal, Three (3) Bronze Stars. While stationed in Alaska, he was introduced to Audrey Franklin. Upon his honorable discharge he relocated to Dallas Texas. Audrey and Thomas were married on November 23, 1955. To his union one child was born, Cheryl Rollins. Thomas was a loving and caring husband to Audrey for 62 years, a devoted father to Cheryl. He Held the title of “Best Grandpa” to the grandchildren Christopher Rollins (Darneshia) and Krystal Collins. He also loved his great-grandchildren Daumyneke, Ashlee, Cortnie and Reilly, And God father to Brittany Champion. He was and avid golfer. He loved to listen and share his Jazz and Blues collection. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the Ebenezer Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Male chorus, Drill team sponsor, and director of the Men’s Ministry. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosanna Johnson, Father William Rollins, step father Hiriam Johnson, Aunt Nancy Brown, daughter Cheryl Rollins and wife Audrey Rollins. “I will not leave you comfortless” John 14:18 The family request that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday August 24, 2018. A funeral service for Mr. Rollins will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday August 25, 2018 at the Restland Memorial Chapel.
