Tim Millard Casner's Obituary
Tim M. Casner, longtime resident of Dallas, Texas, went to his heavenly home on April 13, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born July 1, 1940, to Tad and Letha Casner in Stamford, Texas. He was a proud West Texan, graduating from Ft. Stockton High School where he lettered in three sports for four years. A gifted athlete, he medaled in state track competitions, attended Texas Western College (UTEP) on a track scholarship, and attended the University of North Texas. He had a long career in new home sales starting with Fox & Jacobs in 1968. Honors included Sales and Marketing Council Salesman and Sales Manager of the year. In the 70’s and 80’s he was a partner in both a real estate marketing firm and a custom home building company. In retirement, his greatest joys were his grandkids, family, travel, reading, working his daily crossword puzzle, and putting out a morning “buffet” for the birds. Old western movies were a passion and he claimed to be the Curator of the Cowboy Sidekick Hall of Fame with his carefully acquired, museum quality collection of western movie memorabilia. An avid sports follower, he had an amazing memory for sports and general trivia. He was widely known as a “good guy” and children and animals had a special attachment to him. He loved helping people without them knowing about it, was a trusted friend, and wouldn’t miss his weekly lunch with the “Geezers.” Though a man of few words, he was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor and loved keeping people off balance with his totally unexpected and out of left field comments. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rev. Nikki Jones and her husband Wayne. Left to cherish his memory are Jan, his wife of 54 years; daughters Caron Mettler and husband, Mike, and Susanne Miller and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren Matthew and Mark Mettler and Kate Miller who adored their “Pop-Pop”; sister Vicki Stone; nephews Ray and Shannon Stone; cousins and many beloved friends. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church Richardson on Friday, April 26 at noon. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25 at Restland Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.
