Timothy Wade Gutschlag's Obituary
Wylie – Timothy Wade Gutschlag, 77, of Wylie, TX, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2023.
Tim, as he was called by close friends and family, was born March 24, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to Paul and Faye (Speer) Gutschlag. He was a proud graduate of The University of Nebraska Lincoln, and married Kathey (Mills) December 14, 2000. Tim was a devoted and fiercely protective husband, father, “Pop,” and friend who endeavored to make everyone feel like part of the family; his passing is felt deeply by his family and many close friends.
He was an avid reader and also counted spending time with family, painting, woodworking, gardening/yardwork, going to the movies, music, and Native-American history among his lifelong passions. He possessed an often-wry sense of humor and loved a good joke and to see others laugh. Tim had a life-long career in the Insurance Industry that took him to numerous parts of the world and fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit with the successful sale of his own business (TKG Agency) upon retirement. No matter where life took him, he always treated people with respect and had a caring heart and would go above and beyond to help those that he called friend.
Tim is survived by his wife Kathey, his former wife Diane and their sons- Tim P. Gutschlag and his wife Amber and Jack A. Gutschlag and his wife Lauren, stepson- Mark Mitchell and his wife Luz, brother- John Gutschlag, grandchildren- Joshua Gutschlag, Elizabeth Gutschlag, Sunnie Mitchell, Bodhi Mitchell, many nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of close friends.
Today Tim is reunited in Heaven with his beloved daughter Sheriane Gutschlag and his parents.
A celebration of life gathering for Tim will be held on July 23, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Local Yocal BBQ & Grill [350 E Louisiana St, McKinney, TX 75069] and graveside inurnment will be held July 24, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park [13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243], with Rev. Richard Mayerhoff officiating. Family suggest that memorials may be made to Friends of Wylie Fire Rescue at https://fowfr.org/ or the cause of one's choice
