Timothy Edward Kelley's Obituary
KELLEY, TIMOTHY EDWARD Born in Bay City, MI on Jan. 11, 1924 to Joseph Edward Kelley and Florence Baumgarten. He is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Joseph Kelley and sister, Agatha Jane Kelley. Mr. Kelley graduated from Notre Dame Univ. summa cum laude; and Yale Univ. School of Law and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity. During World War II, served in the Army, European Theater. He moved to Dallas in 1951, was an attorney with Thompson & Knight and became one of the firm’s senior partners. He served as President of both the Dallas Junior Bar Assoc. (1956) and the Dallas Bar Assoc. (1971), State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, Secretary/Treasurer Texas Assoc. of Defense Counsel and Vice President of Trial Attorneys of America. His awards included: ‘Most Outstanding Member’ award from the Dallas Legal Service Commission; the ‘Dallas Devoted Leadership Award’ from Baylor Univ. Medical Center; the ‘Most Outstanding Board Member’ award from the Office of Economic Opportunity National Advisory Commission; the Robert L. Lichten award; and the ‘Headliner of the Year’ award from the Press Club of Dallas. He served many years as a choir member at Christ the King and St. Rita churches. He married Margaret Ann Pearsall, Aug. 21, 1948. They had four daughters: Marcy Leachman, Barbara Charlebois, Stacey Smith, and Laura Myers, plus twelve grandchildren.
