Timothy Martin McWilliams, age 54, died peacefully in his sleep while in his home in Plano, Texas, on January 17, 2018.Tim was born in Stewart Manor, New York on September 27, 1963.Son of Thomas F. & Alice M. McWilliams of Stewart Manor, New York, both deceased, previously of Manhattan, New York, and Scranton, Pennsylvania. Brother of Thomas F. McWilliams of Plano, Texas, previously of New York, Stamford, Connecticut, and Trumbull, Connecticut. Brother of Ellen A. McWilliams, April 25, 1962-May 25, 2006, previously of Stewart Manor, New York, Rockville, Maryland, and West Chester, Pennsylvania. Beloved husband of Elaine McWilliams and devoted father of Meagan McWilliams, both of Plano, Texas, previously of Smithtown, New York and Hauppauge, New York.Tim attended the St. Anne School in Garden City, New York, class of 1977, and Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York, Class of 1981. Tim also attended Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. After College, Tim entered the securities business where he had a long and successful career as an institutional bond expert for First Empire Securities. More recently, Tim also worked for Fidelity before taking early retirement.As a tall, 6’5” strong athlete in his youth, Tim had been a star pitcher and basketball player, ultimately choosing basketball as his favorite sport where he excelled for Chaminade High School.Tim was the starting Varsity center for Chaminade his sophomore, junior, and senior years in high school, and was recruited by a number of Division I University programs.Tim was a wonderful, kind, generous man who would give you the shirt off his back, a gentle giant who was the protector of his sister and his family. Tim was particularly close to his sister Ellen as they were only one year apart, and enjoyed many fond moments with her both in New York and on their many vacations.Tim, his wife Elaine, and daughter Meagan moved to Plano, Texas in 2007 to be closer to his older brother Tom and his family following the death of his sister Ellen in a tragic skydiving accident in 2006.Tim’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family, especially on their vacations, where they were frequent guests in Aruba, Florida, and California. Tim especially enjoyed his home, relaxing by the pool, and playing with his daughter and their various dogs over the years.Time loved attending Meagan’s many team sport activities, including soccer, swimming, and basketball, where Tim was the assistant basketball coach at Prince of Peace Lutheran School in Carrolton. More recently Tim has enjoyed watching and supporting Meagan’s crew team as Meagan crews for Dallas United Crew at White Rock Lake in DallasTim was very much a product of his strong Catholic faith and upbringing, and was particularly pleased when his daughter Meagan wanted to attend John Paul High School in Plano, Texas, and was chosen for admission to John Paul. Tim also enjoyed taking the family’s many dogs to the parks, listening to music, and playing his guitars, watching football games and his beloved New York Giants, and reading Tom Clancy novels and other thrillers of that genre.Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home, Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, Tuesday, January 23rd from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM.Catholic Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 24th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Plano Parkway, Plano, TexasFollowing Mass will be a funeral processing to Restland Memorial Park, Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas for a Catholic burial. Following burial will be a Celebration of Life and luncheon at Gleneagles Country Club, Plano, Texas.
