Tolbert Floyd Young's Obituary
Tolbert Floyd Young, long time member of Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, passed away on June 5, 2015 at the age of 89. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Johnson and her husband; two grandchildren, Nathan and Rebekah; and innumerable nieces and nephews. He was born in Kress, Texas on October 13, 1925, the 8th child of 10. While on naval training during World War II in Toledo, Ohio, he met Marie Browning, the love of his life and wife of 69 years. They were married in Norfolk, Virginia where Floyd was stationed. Thanks to the G.I. bill and considerable encouragement from Marie, he received his Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo and began his career with Procon, Inc., building oil refineries throughout the world. By the time he retired, they had lived at 57 different addresses-that’s a lot of packing! His deep faith in the Lord and his devotion to family sustained him; his dry wit and compassionate heart endeared him to many. The service for Tolbert Young will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
