Tommie Jean Martin's Obituary
Tommie Jean Martin went to be with her Lord on October 26, 2018. She was born in Estelline, Texas on October 15, 1925. Her husband, Joseph Duckett Martin, preceded her after 43 years of marriage. She is survived by her two sons and two daughters-in-law: Jim and Cari Martin and Randy and Chris Martin; three grandsons and their spouses, Phillip and Allison Martin, Kenny, and Corinne Martin, and Robert and Kate Martin; and six great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Tyler, Caroline, Catherine, Carter, and Maelyn.Tommie had a strong faith and loved God dearly. She enjoyed her family, reading books and listening to music whether it was on the radio or her sons playing in the living room with the neighborhood band. She went on many adventures traveling abroad and loved spending quiet, quality time in the country with her family. She was also quick-witted had many humorous sayings that included: “It’s fine as cat hair, Not as big as a popcorn toot in a whirlwind, Close that pneumonia hole before I freeze to death, This black coat attracts more lint than men.”Most of all, Tommie was at her happiest knowing that her family was happy and healthy, and she delighted in being a part of family celebrations. She was a kind and very special woman and loved by many.Her mother died when she was very young, and her twin brother died at birth. Her siblings and father preceded her, and she will be blessed to see them all. She was a member of Walnut Hill United Methodist Church.A memorial service will be held at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Lane Dallas, Texas 75229 on November 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to The Alzheimer’s Association (https://alz.org), Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org), or Walnut Hill United Methodist Church (http://www.whumc.com)
