Tommie Nell Sobey's Obituary
Born July 31, 1928 in Coupland, TX and passed away October 3, 2015 in Richardson, TX. Tommie Nell (Holmberg) attended Taylor High School in Taylor, TX, and earned her Associates Degree from Texas Lutheran College where she met her husband, Arthur “Ed” Sobey. Tommie then received her B.S. in Education from the University of Texas in Austin, and a Masters in Library Science, from the University of North Texas. She served as the Librarian at the Dartmouth Elementary School in Richardson. Tommie’s passions were her grandchildren, literature, history, square dancing, travel. She is survived by her husband, Ed; daughters, Karen Tipton and husband, John Tipton; Janet Weisse and husband, Col. Martin Weisse; sons, Dr. Terry Sobey and Mark Sobey; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and other family and friends. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 04, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Restland Memorial Park, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or Lutheran World Relief.
