Tommy Arthur Purnell's Obituary
TOMMY ARTHUR PURNELL, age 81 died on July 30, 2009 at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Virginia. He was born on November 21, 1927 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late John Sherman and Lois (nee Daniel) Purnell. Mr. Purnell was a US Navy Veteran. He practiced law in Dallas for over 30 years and was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by his wife: Theo May Purnell; his sister Allene Davis and his brother John Purnell. Survivors include five children: Tommy Arthur Purnell, Jr. of West Linn, OR, James Gregory Purnell and wife Lesley of Savoy, IL, Ronald David Purnell and wife Gloria of Davis, CA, Timothy Mark Purnell and wife Candice of Manassas, VA and Kimberley Ann Hill and husband Barry of Manassas, VA; one sister: Alice Gathright and husband Morrell of Pine Bluff, AR; one brother: Carl Purnell and wife Jeannette of Pine Bluff, AR and 13 grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Manassas Baptist Church, 8800 Sudley Road, Manassas, Virginia where services will take place at 7:00 PM with Dr. William T. Higgins and Rev. Jimmy Jackson officiating. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Park Cities Baptist Church; 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, Texas services will take place at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Capitol Chapter, 1400 K. Street, N.W., Suite 725, Washington, D.C. 20005 in loving memory of Tommy Purnell.
