Tony John Philip's Obituary
Our champion Tony John Philip, fought a courageous battle against cancer, he was promoted to heaven on December 20, 2015. Tony was born on March 16, 1975 in Houston, Texas to father John C. Philip and mother Valsamma Philip. He grew up in a loving family with his sister, Tina Naidoo and brother, Togy Philip. Tony was dedicated for God’s work by his parents before his birth and from his young age was called by God to be a disciple for the Kingdom of Jesus. His passion was birthed while serving at Bethel Assembly of God and he accepted his call for ministry at the age of 17. He attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Texas and Lee University in Cleveland, TN, majoring in Missions. Upon returning to Houston, Tony became actively involved at Christian Tabernacle, specifically at the Timothy House Project, ministering to at risk inner city youth. Tony was a true example of servant leadership as he selflessly gave for the benefit of others. Tony married Ginu Thomas on November 14, 2005. They have been blessed with three amazing and beautiful children, Angelina, Gabriella and Isabella. Tony was a man who absolutely loved and adored his family. He was a native Texan and a strong man of Faith. He was an avid fan of his hometown teams- The Houston Rockets, and Houston Texans and was well known for his “famous” 36 hour smoked brisket. Tony served as a Deacon at the Potter’s House of North Dallas and he took his position as “watchman of the house” very seriously. At the core of who he was, Tony was a worshipper and we will always remember him with his hands lifted high. Tony is survived by his wife and children, as well as his father, mother, sister, brother and his nephews Zion, Israel & Jeffrin and his nieces Destiny, Jennifer & Esther. Tony’s home going celebration will be at his home church, The Potter’s House of North Dallas and led by his treasured Pastor, Sheryl Brady.
