Troy Huffington's Obituary
TROY JAMES HUFFINGTON, Engineer, Instructor, Author of U.S. Army Radar and Missile Systems Manuals and Consultant completed his life’s mission on Good Friday, March 30, 2018.He was 87 years of age and a longtime resident of Lewisville, Texas. Troy spent the last mile of his life at Silverado Valley Ranch Memory Care Community never ceasing to implement engineering suggestions.Born in Grandfield, Oklahoma, he grew up farming wheat and cotton from a very young age. He graduated from Grandfield High School in 1948 where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Emma Belle Laing. They had two children; James David Huffington and Cathy Huffington (Hall.) At Grandfield High School, he was a member of The Future Farmers of America and played fullback for the Bearcats. While attending Cameron College, he also served as an Instructor of Missile Systems for the U.S. Army.Troy joined Texas Instruments in 1959 where he became manager of a semi-conductor group. Throughout his travels representing Texas Instruments, he worked on the F-111 and HAWK Missile Projects.Troy was spirited about working with his son, David, who was in The Boy Scouts of America and played a supportive part in his daughter Cathy’s affiliation with Chi Omega Sorority. His roles of caregiving Husband, Dad and Uncle were never ending.Troy’s contributions to the Lewisville, Texas area include his membership in the Lewisville Police Department Citizen Police Academy, as well as his beloved Temple Baptist Church. His volunteer ministries included: Usher, Pastor’s Prayer Team and Hospitality Services.He is preceded in death by his parents, Troy J. Huffington, Sr. and Ruth P. Huffington, his brother, U.S. Marine Don A. Huffington, and his wife, Aline Cannon Huffington.He is survived by his son, James David Huffington and daughter-in-law, Lana Sue Huffington; daughter, Cathy Huffington Hall and son-in-law, Kirby Hall; niece, Tamara Huffington Boleman; great nephew, Brooks Boleman; great niece, Avery Boleman and cousins, Kathy King Clarady, Kenneth Wayne King, Ann Kemper, Halene Crossman and Martha Rorschach, Bill Dawson, Ronald Dawson and Mike Dawson. Troy earned an honorary Grandfather title from his years of mutual neighborly love with Caleb Halter.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church, 2501 Northshore Boulevard, Flower Mound, Texas 75028 at 10:00am, followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am. Entombment is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, TX.In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas, 3001 Knox Street, No. 200, Dallas, Texas 75285 or Temple Christian Academy, 2501 Northshore Boulevard, Flower Mound, Texas 75028 for furthering student’s education.
