Troy Max Stevenson's Obituary
Pastor Troy stepped into the Presence of His Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec 2nd.He began his life on October 8, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. He is the second son of P.O. and Ruth Stevenson. He graduated South Garland High School, class of 1968, and was voted most talented among his peers. He received a Bachelor of Music from University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He served our country in the US Air Force National Guard. Troy felt a call on his life to serve Southern Baptist Churches and filled many positions including Minister of Music and Youth, Minister of Education, Senior Pastor and Administrator over a span of 44 years. He loved serving in West Texas and served Bellview Baptist Church, Midland, for 12 years and retired from Immanuel Baptist Church, Odessa after 22 years of service.He leaves many dearly loved friends in both churches. He married the love of his life, Janice Hettich with whom he shared 45 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Christy and Eric Davis of Terrell, Tracey Rhodes of New Braunfels and Joshua and wife Maureen of Sherman, Texas. He enjoyed the love of his granddaughters, Zoe and Grace. Troy also leaves his mother, Ruth Stevenson of Royse City, his brothers, Chuck and wife Gail of Lone Oak; brother Billy and wife Lorenda of Rockwall; brother David and wife Bo Liu of Fate; and sister-in-law Alice Reyna of Royse City. Troy was preceded in death by his father, P.O. Stevenson. After retirement, Troy worked with the New Braunfels Park and Recreation Dept. as a summer Park Ranger, and was named Ambassador of the Year for 2016. The family wishes to thank Texas Oncology and Christus Family Physician, Dr. D. Andrado for their excellent care and support. Troy and Jan are members of Oakwood Baptist Church and would like to thank Pastor Rusty Rice for his support and love during Troy’s illness. Troy is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.His services are scheduled for Thursday, Dec 7th at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas , Texas at 1:30pm with a reception following at 3pm. Rev. Don Allen will be officiating and Denise Pinkerton will be providing music.
