Trudy Schmidt's Obituary
Trudy Schmidt, 82, passed away on November 1, 2017, in Highland Springs, a caring and loving retirement community in Dallas, Texas. She was surrounded by her loved ones. From her birth in Chicago, Illinois, on March 1, 1935, to her death, she cherished people around her with love, faith, and laughter.After graduating from high school in San Antonio, she attended Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. Following her schooling, she began her career teaching elementary students in Port Arthur, Texas. Then in the summer of 1956 on a blind date, she met her future husband. It was Trudy’s spunkiness and her beauty that attracted Wayne Schmidt to her. Trudy and Wayne married on June 18, 1960 at Highland Park Lutheran Church in San Antonio. They moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she taught kindergarten for two years before they moved back to Texas.Left to honor Trudy and remember her love are Trudy’s three children, Michael Schmidt, Katherine Quennet and son-in-law Hans Quennet, and Christina Miller and son-in-law Eric Miller; seven grandchildren, Zachary Schmidt, Emma Schmidt, Evan Quennet, Megan Quennet, Jackson Miller, Annelise Miller, and Madeline Miller; brother Fred Schmidt and sister Hilda Sullivan.Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents. Trudy will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served. The Quennet and Miller families would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at Highland Springs, Always Best Care, and VNA.The Memorial Services are going to be held at the Highland Springs Retirement Community Clubhouse on Sunday, November the 5th at 4:00 PM.
