Trula Harris Bentley's Obituary
My beautiful, loving Trula passed away on September 30, 2008 at Plano Medical Center. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Trula was born April 26, 1932 in Pride, Texas. Attended High School in O’Donnell, Texas and Tarleton State College in Stephenville, Texas. She met and married Richard on May 4, 1951, celebrating 57 years of marriage. She loved and adored her two sons Mark Harris Bentley of Seattle, Washington and Leslie Own Bentley of Beaumont, Texas and their two wives and two beautiful grandchildren, Evan Owen Bentley and Rachel Key Bentley of Beaumont, Texas. Trula was the anchor and devoted homemaker of our home. A great cook, kept a beautiful rose garden, and a yard of flowers year round. Her family always came first. She loved to travel, and Richard being an amateur Ornithologist traveled to many parts of North America, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America. She studied color and line under the woman who wrote the book on the subject, at Golden West Community College in Costa Mesa, California, she also studied and graduated from the school of dress design and dress making at Golden West. Trula was one of the four women who organized the Fourth Wednesday Book Club in Dallas, Texas and thrives still today. She was active member of P.E.O. for 30 years, serving as President for the E.T. Chapter. She was a Den Leader for 6 years with the Boy Scouts of America, Sunday School Teacher and an active member of the Valley View Christian Church since 1982 and a devoted Christian since early childhood. She is survived by a sister, Billie Caswell of Roswell, New Mexico. Trula was the youngest of three daughters of Ernest and Willie Harris of O’Donnell, Texas. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on Friday October 30, 2008 from 6 to 8PM at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 3:30PM Saturday October 4, 2008 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
