Gene Tunney Epley's Obituary
Gene Tunney Epley, 91, of Carrollton, TX died December 3, 2017 in Carrollton, TX. He was born September 23, 1926, to Lee Melvin and Mae Epley in Bonham, TX. He married Nelda Call on December 20, 1947 in Childress, TX. In his working career, he worked for the Amarillo, TX fire department for 7 years, was employed with Red Ball Motor Freight for 26 years, Nationwide Trucking for a year. He worked with a Carrollton landscaping company for 4 years and then 28 years as a driver and trainer with the Carrollton/Farmers Branch School District. He was a long time member of the Webb Chapel Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Navy during work war II, in the Pacific. Gene is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Nelda Epley of Carrollton, TX. His 4 children: Steve Epley of Flower Mound, TX; Barbara Heath of Edmond, OK; Mike Epley of Carrollton, TX; Robert Epley of Carrollton, TX. Sister, Dosia Marchant of Yukon, OK. 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Riley. Gene was a hard worker, but he also enjoyed golf, boating and fishing, working with the Boy Scouts, hunting, playing forty-two and dominoes with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with visitation one hour prior.
