Tyler Brooks Smith's Obituary
Tyler, age 27 passed away June 24, 2012 after a last courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 12, 1984 in Dallas and after surviving a brain tumor at two, he went on to have a very full life. Tyler graduated from Richardson High School in 2003 where he served on the Student Council and Senior Advisory Board. His PTA Reflections entry won recognition By the Texas Education Commission on the Arts and was exhibited in their Austin headquarters during the summer of 2002. In 2007 he earned a Special Services Certificate in Stocking and Merchandising from Eastern New Mexico State in Roswell New Mexico. Tyler was an active youth and adult member of BSA Troop 444 in Richardson. He was an eager participant in summer and winter camps as well as numerous leadership training events. He was elected to The Order of the Arrow in 1997 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2002. Tyler was a member of Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church where he was active in Youth Fellowship and where he participated in 10 mission trips and was a regular volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Tyler also volunteered each Friday morning at the Network of Community Ministries. Tyler leaves behind a loving family and wonderful friends, all of us grateful for the joy he brought into our lives for so many years. His parents, Judy and Dane, his brothers, Ryan, Kyle and Dylan, his grandparents, Florence & Keith Smith of Newport Beach, CA, and Mary Frances and Hartwell (deceased) Bowling of Madison, MS and aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Panama. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Restland Memorial Park with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Network of Community Ministries, 741 S. Sherman St. Richardson, TX. 75081, Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, 3901 N. Star Rd.
