Ulysses Simpson Bell's Obituary
Ulysses Simpson Bell, age 93, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. Ulysses was born on September 6, 1926 in Denison, Texas to parents Fred and Juanita Bell. He was happily married to Mrs. Charles Etta (Brown) Bell on April 6, 1968 in Dallas, Texas. This marriage union produced daughter Alisha Bell.
A faithful Christian, Ulysses accepted Christ as a young boy at Hopewell Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. After moving to Dallas to begin his teaching career, he joined and became a lifetime member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he was a longtime Sunday School teacher and Deacon.
Ulysses earned his bachelor’s (1948) and master’s degree (1951) from Prairie View A&M University. He pursued additional graduate studies at Southeastern State College and East Texas State University and received a professional certificate in guidance and counseling at the University of North Texas.
He was an educator with the Dallas Independent School District for over 40 years and considered it a great joy to teach and counsel countless students throughout his career.
He is survived by wife Charles Etta Bell, daughter Alisha Bell of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Juanita Bell, sisters Reba Walker and Charles Lola Slaughter, brothers Fred Bell Jr., Asa Bell, and Joe Bell.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, uncle, teacher and friend who will be dearly missed by those who were privileged to know him.
Visitation will be held Friday April 24, 2020 from 3:00PM - 5:00PM. A private funeral service will be held Saturday April 25, 2020. Ulysses will be laid to rest at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.
