Genevieve Utz Kraus' Obituary
Genevieve Utz Kraus age 68, dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peace-fully surrounded by her husband and children on August 27, 2015 in Plano, Texas. She was born October 2, 1946 in Edinburg, Texas to Willard Humphrey and Ethelyn Lucile Utz, the youngest of three children. Genevieve married Brent Kraus in a civil ceremony performed by their bishop in his parent’s home in Northridge, California on June 20, 1970. They were later sealed together as husband and wife for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 3, 1975. She attended one year at Pan American College, one semester at The University of Texas at Austin and one year at Brigham Young University. She briefly worked as a stewardess for United Airlines for six months imme-diately prior to her marriage to Brent. She then worked for a fast food restaurant in Provo for approximately one year to support the two of them while Brent finished his degree at BYU. Af-ter his graduation, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their four children. Until about two years prior to her passing she worked for approximately eighteen years as a nutritional sales clerk for Whole Foods Market in both Richardson and Plano, Texas. Genevieve’s legacy in help-ing people with their concerns and illnesses lives on in the Whole Foods team members she in-spired and the customers who still ask for her. She became personal friends with many of them. She was an avid reader of nutritional books, magazines and journals. Genevieve loved her family and was a consummate homemaker. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in all of the volunteer auxiliary positions. She especially loved her calling as a children’s primary teacher for over fifteen years. Genevieve is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Brent, by her four children, Courtney Kraus, Miranda Moon (David), Tyler Kraus and Collin Kraus (Lia-na); by eight grandchildren, Brock Moon, Brianne Moon, Payton Moon, Kendall Moon, Lillian Kraus, Lucille Kraus, Juliette Kraus and “grand son” Kraus on the way; and by her sister Harriet Reed. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and by her brother Gabe Utz. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday August 28 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday August 29 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, 14740 Meandering Way, Dallas, Texas 75254. Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:45 prior to the service at the church. Interment in the Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund in her honor or a charitable organization of your choice.
