Valrye Eugene "Gene" Gordon's Obituary
Valrye Eugene Gordon, 85, of Plano, Texas passed away on April 20, 2021 in Plano, Texas. He was born on May 5, 1935 to Clarence Eugene Gordon and Maida Kavanough in Enterprise, Mississippi.
Gene loved being a United Methodist. His 3 principles of ministry were also his principles of life: Jesus Christ is the head of the church, Everybody is somebody to God, Make no small plans for God. One of my most cherished thoughts is when people found out I was his daughter, they’d smile and tell me, “I did my fifth step with your dad.” Everybody is somebody to God. He believed it. He lived it.
He loved sports, in fact he was scouted by the Yankees. He loved the Texas Rangers! He loved the Dallas Cowboys, particularly of the Landry era. He loved pie. He loved a good story. He loved laughter and a good joke. Mostly, he loved Christ. And he loved us.
Memorials may be given to the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco.
He is survived by his wife June; their 7 children; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews who he loved and who loved him.
