Vance Edward Vonderheid's Obituary
Vance Edward Vonderheid, 56, of Dallas and formerly of Garland, was found dead in his residence Saturday, Oct. 23. Vance was a salesman for Lipman Produce, and had served that position with other companies.
Vance had several interests and hobbies, including the University of Texas Longhorns, shot glasses, and his dogs. Vance had literally hundreds of different pieces of Longhorn paraphernalia. He also was interested in dogs. His dogs, Lucy and Bevo were his best friends and part of his family for a large part of his adult life. As for his shot glasses, those number over 200.
As a student, Vance was a star football player earning honors while playing football at Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, and then went on to earn similar types of accolades while playing at Henderson
County Junior College (now known as Trinity Valley Community College). He
returned to Dallas and held several jobs until he became a produce and
vegetable salesman, of which he spent over 20 years becoming successful in
that position.
His many friends have stories to tell about his activities during his adult years. He was loved by many people and many friends have shared those memories with each other.
Vance is preceded in death by his parents, Martin L. Vonderheid and
Billie J. Morris Vonderheid. He is survived by his three brothers and a
sister-in-law. Those include: Martin Philip, and sister-in-law Julie
Vonderheid; George Randall (Randy) Vonderheid: and David Brian
Vonderheid. He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew by David,
Brooke, Nichole, and Austin. He was married at one time and served her
children’s step father. Those include: Brandi, Nikki, Chris and Brad. There were many other children Vance became involved in their lives and
helped them throughout their early lives, also.
Vance’s wishes included being cremated and distributed off the course of Costa Rico where he had a fishing trip each year (before Covid).
There will be no funeral. In honor of Vance, his brothers will host a Tribute to Vance January 15 at St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin. Many referred to
Pete’s as Vance’s second home. Pete’s will be involved in hosting the soiree, and Lipman Produce, Vance’s employer, will also be large part of hosting the party. During the party his brothers will display a lot of the Longhorn paraphernalia Vance had accumulated over the years, including approximately 100-150 “shot glasses” he accumulated.
There will also be an auction of many of these items to be contributed to the Dallas County Humane Society/SPCA of Texas. In lieu of flowers, the brothers have asked that contributions be made to one of these societies.
There will be no services with Restland Funeral Home.
