Vela Irene Trask's Obituary
Vela Irene Shouse Trask, loving wife, mother and Meemaw was born in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma on April 19, 1928 and passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Vela was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Norvel J. Trask. She is survived by brother, Harold Shouse of Vinita, Oklahoma; daughters, Vicki Layton (Jim) of Richardson, Texas, and Leslie Baccus (Duane) of Carrollton, Texas; grandchildren, Grant Layton, Corri Baccus Peterson (Wess), Courtney Layton Peeler (Price), Kimberly Baccus Smith (Matt), Kelsey Baccus and 8 great-grandchildren. Vela spent many years traveling worldwide with Norvel and his State Farm associates. Some of her favorite times were snow skiing with her family in Colorado, traveling the US in their motor home, and camping with longtime friends in Colorado every summer for many years. Vela loved to play bridge and never missed a happy hour at the Tradition Prestonwood where she and Norvel resided for the past several years. She was the ultimate sports fan supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. She was a great hostess, entertaining family and longtime college friends at their annual Texas/OU weekends. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The visitation for Vela Trask will be Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
