Velma Joyce Sims' Obituary
Velma Joyce (May) Sims of Farmers Branch/Carrollton, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011. Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Restland Wildwood Chapel with Bro. Slayton officiating. Velma was born November 1, 1931 in Cumby, Texas to Joshua Martin and Lena Whitaker May of Greenville, Texas. She was a fulltime housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for over 61 years. She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church located in Carrollton, Texas. Surviving are two sons, Steve M. Sims and his wife Sandra, of Cumby, and Weldon L. Sims, of Dallas; two daughters, Brenda D. Wiley and her husband Charles, of Little Elm, and Donuia F. Sims, of McKinney; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two sisters, one daughter, and a grandson. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home.
