Vera Boyls Hallmark's Obituary
Vera Hallmark, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on July 15, 2017, at the age of 87. Vera was born August 15, 1929, in Breckenridge, Texas to Ora Sisk Boyls and O.C. Boyls. She was the seventh of eight children with two brothers and five sisters. Vera was raised in Dallas Texas attended Adamson High School. After Graduation Vera attended Tarleton College. While at Tarleton, Vera met Bob Boyd Hallmark of Dublin, Texas. Bob and Vera were married on August 24, 1950, in Carmel California on the Bride and Groom Radio Show. She gave birth to two children, Nancy and Robert. The family moved Dallas in 1961. Bob became President and Chief Executive Officer of Southwestern States Bank Card Association (SSBA). SSBA was purchased by MBNA and renamed its Information Service headquarters in Dallas the Hallmark Center in honor of Bob. While with SSBA and MBNA Bob and Vera traveled the world. Vera was active in the First Church of Christ Scientist in Richardson and the Fifth Church of Christ Scientist in Dallas. Vera was Clerk and Reader with the Church. Vera was also active in the Dallas Arts Community working with the Gihon Foundation and a contributor to the Dallas Opera. She was a wonderful homemaker, and cook. She was a tournament bridge player, well-read, and a caring, generous and positive person. Her positive and optimistic outlook on life is a legacy to her family and close friends that they will carry with them forever. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bob B. Hallmark and is survived by two children Nancy Bulhon (Pierre) of Austin Texas, Robert Hallmark (Sandi), of McLean Virginia, Grandchildren, Philip Bulhon, Julia Bulhon Collins (Vannie), Nicholas Hallmark, Taylor Hallmark, Great Grandchild Vivian Claire Collins, sister Katie Maloney Dallas Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Vera’s life will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at the Restland Cemetery on Saturday, July 22 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Darrell K. Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease (dkrfund.org) or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
