Vera Mae Grund's Obituary
GRUND, VERA MAE YOUNGBLOOD died October 23, 2012, after a short illness. She was 91. Vera was born in Kaufman County on November 23, 1920, to Will and Ollie Mae Youngblood. She grew up one of 11 siblings. After graduation from Ponder High School, she earned her degree from North Texas State Teachers College (now the University of North Texas). She joined the Dallas Transit Company (now DART) as an accountant, and worked there until her retirement. Vera married Harold Grund on June 11, 1960. They enjoyed 39 wonderful years together before Harold’s passing. Vera and Harold were longtime members of the Munger Place Methodist Church. Vera is survived by her sister, Norma Whitham of Fort Worth; many nieces, nephews and their families; step-daughter, Beverly Cavalli of California and her family; and countless friends. Memorial service will be Saturday, October 27th at 12:30pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. Vera requested memorials be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219, or to the Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Avenue, Waco, TX 76708.
