Vera Louise Liles' Obituary
LILES, VERA LOUISE TURNEY born June 12, 1921 in Lamkin, TX to Harvey Edward and Vada Geye Turney. She went home to Jesus on February 18, 2014 in Dallas, TX. She grew up in Lamkin, then attended Draughon’s Business College in Abilene, TX. Afterward she moved to Dallas, where she worked for North American Aviation before going to work for Atlantic Refining Company, which ultimately became ARCO. It was at Atlantic that she met O. T. Liles, and they married on April 21, 1950. She was an active member of Casa Linda United Methodist Church since 1951, faithfully serving in women’s groups in numerous capacities and working to serve those in need. She was kindhearted and compassionate, always pulling for the underdog, and was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 58 years, and longtime dear friend, Joan Tucker. Survived by daughters, Nancy Liles of Garland, TX, Patti (Rick) Olivo of Arlington, TX, and Carol (Jeff) Kahn of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Kelly (Shannon) Mullican of Mansfield, TX; great-grandsons, Jackson and Noah Mullican; sister, Hazel Driskill of Houston, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Royce and Sidney Turney of Ft Worth, TX; niece and nephews, Cheryl Bass, Don and Ed Driskill, and Pat Gish. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Lake Highlands Church in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Casa Linda United Methodist Church, 1800 Barnes Bridge Rd, Dallas, TX 75228 or to C. C. Young Benevolence Fund, 4847 W.
