Verba Jeanne Gearner Tinsley's Obituary
Verba Jeanne Gearner Tinsley was born on January 31, 1935, in El Dorado, Arkansas and went Home to the Lord on August 24, 2023, in Rowlett, Texas at the age of 88.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Verbal S. and Cora Gearner, her sister Sharon and grand-daughter Anna Krug. She is survived by her six daughters: Camille Krug of Plano, Kimberly Berry of St. Paul, Minn., Kristin Adair and husband Chuck of Dallas, Kelly Capps and husband Ted of Royse City, Candace Coleman and husband Brad of Rockwall, and Courtney Duffy and husband Mike of Southlake, 15 grand-children and 18 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Bubba”. Verba is also survived by numerous cousins who she grew up with as an only child.
Verba’s faith was of the utmost importance, and she shared this with them from an early age, teaching the girls prayers and taking them to Sunday school, church, and Vacation Bible School.
In addition to being a woman of God, supportive mom, and homemaker, Verba had numerous creative talents including sewing, quilting, painting, sketching and home decorating. There was a distinctive look to any space she created or decorated.
As each daughter married, Verba welcomed each of her sons-in-law into the family as the boys she never had. In 1990, Verba re-entered the workforce at Law Engineering in the accounting department until her retirement. All the while Verba maintained her busy life at Skillman Church, volunteering in numerous capacities and serving as a friend to people young and old. Verba loved being a mother but her greatest joy in life was her cherished role as grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended every birthday party, sporting event, and school program without fail. She maintained contact with her grandchildren who were far away by visits, texting, calling, sending cards and even facetiming.
Verba never met a stranger. She made friends easily and lived her life according to one of her favorite scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Verba’s love for others has touched many lives and will continue to bless those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers who helped Verba during the past six months, including Baylor University Medical Center, Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation, Medical City of Plano, the loving and caring staff at Iris Memory Care in Rowlett, and Lori Dowdle at PPC Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verba’s memory to St. Jude’s Hospital or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
