Veretta Mae Cotham's Obituary
Cotham, Veretta Mae, 95, was born August 26, 1918 in Duncan, Nebraska and passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. She was the second oldest of eleven whom she helped care for throughout her childhood. Veretta survived the Great Depression and worked as a telephone operator in World War II. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted decades of her life volunteering for her community. She had an amazing talent for and found great joy in needlepoint and sewing, and had a love for teddy bears. Veretta is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Homer; daughters, Dorletta Payne and Jackie Davenport; sisters, Cara Lee Combs and Elizabeth Booher; six granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Myra McVay; eight siblings, and granddaughter, Meagan Flanagan. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 03, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
