Vergie Franklin's Obituary
Vergie M. Franklin, after battling cancer off and on since 1972, was told by God “enough” and He summoned her to glory June 4, 2017. Vergie was born August 22, 1927, to Clarence and Minnie Anderson of Burneysville, Oklahoma who along with 11 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Marie, five sons, Charles (LaTasha), James (Mishown), Kenneth (Carrie), Nineveh (Sharon), and Timothy. God blessed Vergie with two special friends, Archie Lee and Jocelyn who provided her with unwavering and loving support. She also leaves three sisters, C.C Woodson, Mae Lois Fuller and Marquita Gaines along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends. God also blessed her with a spiritual family, St. Paul AME Church. In 1967, Vergie made a covenant with her Savior that if He blessed her with a job at Texas Instruments she would be faithful to that job and she was, never missing a day of work in 25 years! She lived a very fruitful and blessed life based on her faith and love of Jesus Christ! In her prime, there were not many men or women who could outrun her or beat her bowling. Her family and church were her love and every now and then she liked to travel north on I-35 to Oklahoma. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul AME Church located at 2420 Metropolitan Ave, Dallas, TX 75215. She will be greatly missed not just for her pear cobbler but for the joy, happiness, and encouragement she gave to many.
