Verna Elizabeth Hamilton, 78, of Royse City, Texas, passed away April 11, 2019 in Royse City, Texas. She was born January 18, 1941 to Paul Thacker and Naomi Whitsel in Dallas, Texas.Verna married John Hamilton on February 5, 1971 in Dallas, Texas. She started her restaurant career at Campisis Egyptian Restaurant in 1966, she later opened Mama’s Restaurant in 1977. This started her restaurant entrepreneurship. She later opened The Fountain and Mama’s Pioneer Restaurant in November 1982 and 1995 respectively. In June 1982 she opened Pretty Pup and Moore Dog Grooming Salon. This became a family business that is now owned and operated by her granddaughter Sarah Routledge.Verna is preceded in death by her husband, John Hamilton, father, Paul Thacker, mother, Naomi Whitsel, sister, Nita Grandi and cousin, Robert Michael Childress.Verna is survived by her son, Paul Routledge, granddaughters, Sarah Routldge, JoAnna Badjie, and granddaughter-in-law, Rebekah Lemon.Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 17, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home.
